Dear friends,
I've been drinking a lot of Darjeeling tea lately, the result of
spending hours upon hours in my favourite coffeehouse, writing songs for my next
album of original songs. A coffeehouse is like a little microcosm of
society. Mothers with screaming kids, Senior folk discussing politics,
office executives taking a break from a stress-filled day, and in the
case of Los Angeles, actors and musicians chilling with a latte.
In fact, I've been spending so much of my life in the coffeehouse that they (the staff)
made me customer of the week! Well, this was a couple of months ago,
but the thrill of getting my polaroid picture plastered on some
plastic frame with the giant words "CUSTOMER OF THE WEEK" and
the privilege of getting free cups of tea for the entire week is a distinct
memory to be savoured like a slow brewing tea. (you can see the picture on my blog at http://corrinnemay.blogspot.com/2006/08/customer-of-week.html
In the meantime, I've also been brewing up another album,
an album of Christmas favourites. And this time, you can savour a sip of it, an exclusive
first listen to two songs "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and "The Answer" from the Christmas album at http://www.myspace.com/corrinnemay
We just finished recording the Christmas album and it will be released around the
end of October in Singapore and Japan. No shopping mall, "I saw Mummy Kissing Santa
Klaus" type Christmas songs for me. Nope. The album is chock full with traditional
Christmas favourites...the type of Christmas songs I used to sing as a kid in the
junior choir in church. The type the kids choir would sing as we went carolling from house to
house, relishing the thought of free cookies and tidbits, like a musical Chinese New Year
house visit to the strains of "Joy to the World".
And to those of you wondering about my next concert....
I'll be back in Singapore in December to do a Christmas concert at
the Esplanade Concert Hall. Save the date : Saturday, December 16th 2006 @ 7.30 pm.
We'll share the Christmas season with songs, Christmas carols,
reflections and ham it up with a choir, strings and my band. It should be fun and I'm
looking forward to it 
Tickets go on sale pretty soon. On the 19th of October, (ie. this Thursday) and you'll be
able to get the tickets from the usual suspects...ie. Sistic, the Esplanade box office etc.
Whew....
So, that's what's been happening in my life lately.
