[Feb. 2006] Channel News Asia interview / a note of thanks  Reply with quote

Dear friends,

I left Singapore for Los Angeles last Friday, the 17th of February
and now that I'm back in L.A, I've been hit by the jet-lag blues Confused
Getting sleepy at odd hours of the day, trying to concentrate
on getting work done, but nodding off instead...yup.

I had such a lovely time while in Singapore, catching up on my
teh tarik (tea) at the kopi tiams (coffee shops), feasting on my favourite chicken rice,
although this time around, I did not manage to eat my Katong Laksa (spicy coconut soup with
white noodles, fishcake, and cockles) but I will the next time around!

Thanks to everyone who went for the "Strings and Serenades"
concerts on the 12th and 13th of February in Singapore.
Some of you came from as far as Sarawak and Hong Kong,
and I thank you for taking the journey.

The band, the string players and I all had an amazing time performing for you.
Thanks also to everyone that lined up for the meet-and-greet.
I was delighted to meet each and everyone of you and honoured to sign those ipods and guitar! :grouphug:

In the next week or so, I will be putting up some of the photos that
were taken during the concert and also updating my blog with some concert
highlights.

In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that the TV news network,
Channel News Asia will be featuring an interview they conducted with me on
their 1-on-1 programme, this coming Thursday, the 23rd of February (Thur) 9.30pm, 12.30am,
and Friday the 24th of February (Fri) @ 12.30pm, 5.30pm
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/programmes/prog_current.htm

Also, Zaobao, the chinese newspaper in Singapore, ran an article on me.
I haven't read it yet. My chinese is pretty rusty, so I need to grab a dictionary
to translate it, but here is the link for those of you who can read
http://stars.zaobao.com/pages3/corrinemay060219.html

And here's a link to a Straits Times review of the concert on the 12th of Feb.

o.k, that's it for now Smile
Say hi to the Katong Laksa for me,

Hugs,
Corrinne.

Speaking of local food, did you manage to get your ration of fresh durian this time round? I was just on the bus passing by some fruit stalls at Geylang and I saw mountains of durians.. *slurp slurp*

I had one piece of durian in Seremban, Malaysia.
It was SOOOOOooo good.....mmmm.
Wanted to eat the whole durian, but durians are heaty lah, so had to stay away from it until after the concert. But after the concert, I forgot to get some more durian.
Anyway....
Now that I'm back in L.A, haven't been tempted to go back
to the frozen variety yet.

However, I'm really missing my teh from the kopi tiam.
Especially the one from Yakun. And....I'm missing
the convenience of just heading to the hawker centre and
eating a $2 meal! Wish there were hawkers centres like that
here in L.A....ah well....back to the recipe books.....
got to....start..cooking!

Corrinne Very Happy
