For those of you in Singapore, Happy National Day! Singapore is 50 years old today.
To celebrate the occasion, I have written, not one, but two songs :)
The latest song called 'Bless Our Singapore' was written on behalf of the Catholic Church of Singapore,
as a prayer and a blessing for this, Singapore's Jubilee year.
The music video was just released a few days ago. It is a video that I had a wonderful and emotional
time filming with my daughter Claire. Thanks to the Archdiocese of Singapore and Pixelmusica and
all the others who helped to put forward this music video.
You can hear the song and watch the video for 'Bless Our Singapore' below.
The other song 'Kite' is a song that captures the emotional tug-of-war between being with a loved one and leaving a loved one;
between being in a place that anchors you and being in a place where you can fly. I wrote 'Kite' with the incredibly gifted singer-songwriter Charlie Lim
as part of an SG50 music project titled 'Sing, Love'.
Listen/Download 'Kite' for free at http://imclive-group.com/sing-love.html
BTW, if you're an audiophile, download the song. The nuances are much better conveyed in the download. :)
And you can see the video animation of the song here
The song is arranged and produced by Kavin Hoo http://www.earthtones-studio.com
Thanks too to Ruth Ling from Red Roof Records for getting Charlie and I on board this SG50 'Sing,Love' project and for steering the project, and it's music video to fruition.
Thanks also to the T'ang Quartet who play so beautifully on the recording.
So go take a listen :)
I hope you enjoy it.

So glad that Claire has been enjoying the antics of Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the gang :) Borrowed a special 60th anniversary edition of Peanuts from the library a few weeks ago and Claire still loves reading the comic strips in the book every day. #peanuts #charliebrown #snoopy #comics #littleavidreader #justgivemeabookandillbehappy
Spent over five hours crafting this tasty local Singapore delights charm bracelet at a workshop this past weekend. Can you spot the Peng Kueh, the Ang Ku Kueh, the Kueh Tu Tu, the pineapple tart, the Tau Sar Piah, the rainbow kueh, and the sugar biscuit? It was painstaking but fulfilling to craft each individual piece from polymer clay. For the Kueh Tutu, Lixuan from @thepigbakesclay even gave each of us an actual Kueh Tutu to copy. I tried to copy the way that the coconut oozed through the cracks of the Kueh Tutu and was pretty happy with the results. Claire was happily wearing the bracelet the next day :) Thanks Lixuan for your gentle coaching and teaching. www.thepigbakesclay.com #thepigbakesclay #artsandcraft #kueh #foodie #miniatures #singapore
Strolled along the beach in Langkawi on many occasions last week. Loved this tree that seemed to thrive amongst the rocks. The three little figures are Claire and her cousins, who ran ahead of us to explore. #Langkawi #berjaya #explorers #travel #tree
It was a lovely blessing to have His Grace Archbishop William Goh celebrate mass this evening at St Ignatius. The kids were thrilled to take this photo with him after mass. #CatholicSg #stignatius
So honoured and happy to be this guy's Godma :) Daniel and I have known each other since we were English Literature majors at the National University of Singapore. This past year, I journeyed with him as his sponsor for the #RCIA as he discovered more about Catholicism. As we approached Easter, he invited me to be his Godmother for his Sacrament of Confirmation. So I had the double joy at the Easter Vigil mass this year, of welcoming both my hubby Kavin and Daniel into the Catholic Church. Here we are standing in front of St. Francis Xavier Church in Melaka, Malaysia just before attending the morning mass with the rest of the pilgrims on our retreat trip. It still tickles me to call him "Godson" since we're about the same age :) Daniel is also a fantastic guitarist and musician who has played with the likes of Stefanie Sun and JJ Lin. Check out his brand new website at www.danielchaiguitar.com #godparent #godchild #RCIA #weareallpilgrimsonthisjourney #melaka #catholic
A beautiful window in St Paul's Church in Melaka. I had to stop and ponder for a while... #Melaka #malacca #whentimestandsstill
Claire hamming it up with a super cute cushion shaped like a sugar biscuit that's a local favourite in Singapore :))) Thanks @pamela_ho for the cushion! #singapore
This weekend, Msgr. Philip Heng, S.J led us on a lovely trip to Melaka, Malaysia as part of the RCIA retreat to reflect on the lives of St. Ignatius and St. Francis Xavier. Here we are standing at the statue of St. Francis Xavier atop St. Paul's Hill in Melaka. #RCIA #catholic #stfrancisxavier #melaka #malacca #jesuits
Claire misses her old kindergarten friends and teachers and we miss it too. Even though she graduated from kindergarten last year, she still misses it. Cherrybrook Kindergarten is an amazing kindergarten that focuses not just on learning the abc's, but they have a virtues based program. Claire had so many loving teachers who taught her how to put into practice virtues such as Patience, Kindness, Fortitude and Helpfulness. It was amazing to see her blossom during her time there.
Cherrybrook is having its Open House tomorrow morning. if you've been looking for a fantastic kindergarten for your child, I do highly recommend you consider attending the Open House at Cherrybrook or giving them a call :))) www.cherrybrook.edu.sg
Easter Joy! I'm so happy to welcome Yuey (Thomas), my hubby Kavin (Joseph), Karen (Madeleine) and Daniel (incidentally also my brand new Godson, :)) to the Catholic Church. These dear friends of mine have been journeying this past year to discover their faith and it was so beautiful to see their faces aglow with Joy at Easter Vigil at St Ignatius church this past Saturday as they received the wonderful gift of the sacraments of Confirmation and Communion and Yuey (Thomas) received his baptism. The celebration lasted from 8 pm till close to midnight! So I'm grateful too that little Claire and Kaye-En were able to stay up way past their bedtime to witness and be a part of this Easter celebration. Thanks to Monsignor Heng who journeyed along with us this past year. #Easter #RCIA #confirmation #eucharist #stignatius #catholic #catholicsg #eastervigil
